Day 131: Xfactor and knitting fest...

Is it me, or is EVERYONE ill at the moment? For the past week I've had a stinking cold. I can't sleep, I can't taste, I can't breathe! I tell you what I can do; sneeze.

As you can probably tell, I hate being ill. It's so annoying, but I can't help but feel it's my body's way of telling me to slooow dooowwn.

For 2 whole days this week, I didn't even leave the house. They were spent in bed. How was this helping me? I couldn't do my work, I couldn't go to lessons...

Well, I wasn't about to let it defeat me. Whilst I was cooped up in my room, I got creative! Yep, I spent most of my day watching Xfactor online and catching up with my knitting. Loved it! Sitting in bed, knitting away (with the odd nose blowing added), watching people sing...What more could you want from an illness?

So, if like me, you are feeling a bit rotten this week, use the time to create. Do some writing, drawing, planning, making...whatever you can muster the strength to do. Even if it's just watching T.V. watch something helpful to inspire your ill, but creative mind!

Get well soon...

Day 130: Shaun the Sheep

Today I'm going to encourage you to do a bit of role playing just to spice up your Friday.

Imagine you are a sheep. (Feel free to do as much 'baaa'-ing as you feel appropriate.) You are out on the field pretty much all day and all you do is eat grass. The occasional leaf gives another dimension to your meal...yum.

Come on, don't you think you'd get bored?

Every day I travel up to Uni and I pass a bunch of sheep in a field. Some days I think, 'man, I wish I was a sheep. Nothing to worry about. Nothing to bother you. Just chill out all day.' But, really, I'd get bored.

If I was a sheep, I'd break from my herd, who were all perfectly happy just munching, and go on an adventure!

If you were a sheep and you walked into a shopping centre, what would you think? Put yourself in the hooves of a sheep. Maybe you would wonder why there wasn't any hay in the feeding trough (the trolleys to us). Or maybe you would think that leg of meat looked...(I'll leave you to fill in this blank!)

It's fun to see the world from a different perspective sometimes. Don't get me know, I like being a human (for the most part), but what's life without a bit of imagination?

Enjoy being a sheep on this fun-day-Friday. Go about your day, thinking what a sheep would think of what you're doing or the conversations you're having.

After all, when is it not appropriate to act like a sheep!

Check out Ooh.com. It's full of loads of stuff you can do all around the world from scuba diving to a school of rock workshop! There are loads of creative things on there and I guarantee you can find something going on near you.

Day 128: Question time

Today I am simply going to ask you a question. I think it deserves a good chunk of time to be spent on it. You never know where this thinking might lead you. Creativity is the key here, remember. Use you imagination. Give it some time and see where what ideas come from it

What effect would it have on you and your family if the government passed a law stating every household must own a pet elephant?

Think about it and see where your thoughts will lead you...feel free to share your them with me too!

Day 127: Lions of Bath, 2010

Yep, it's true. The lions have left Bath to start another fun filled adventure (if you haven't a scooby what I'm talking abut see Day 25)!

But, I was lucky enough to say goodbye to ALL of them without traipsing round the whole of Bath. They all got together and had a little send off in the park. Just for you guys I took some picture of my favourite ones. Take a look and share the magic...

This one's made of plants!

Wordsworth, Scrabble tiles!

La La Sensory Lion, Gotta love a bit of collage.

A series of Unfortunate Events, This one's got guts!

FloraLeo, Soo pretty.

Daisy Honeysuckle, One lion, millions of pictures!

Dave, Actual blades!

Killerbyte, This one's my absolute fav!
There are little people running away from the lion, with captions! Amazing!

King of Fudge, if only is was made of chocolate...

King of Pop, scarily realistic!

It was SUCH an amazing event. Everyone who was there loved it, whether they were old or young. I've said it before and I'll jolly well say it again, the Arts bring people together. Fact.

Day 126: Freize Art Fair

If you are into art and have some time/money to pop to London, the try and check out the Frieze Art Fair. It's held in Regant's Park between 14th and 17th October. That's this Thursday so make time to go see it.

The art world gets really excited about it every year. Over 170 galleries from all over the world come and sell there art. There are a lot of new artists there, trying to get picked up by a gallery. I think I'm right in saying that Saachi (who owns a big gallery in London) picked up some artist from Frieze a few times, so its important stuff. There's a real buzz about the whole thing. There's film and music stuff going on too.

Confession: I have never actually been, but I have a lot of friends who have gone and said it's really exciting. A few also said it was a bit like a jumble sale, 'cause there is so much going on, but I say embrace it, take it all in and accept it for what it is. I mean, come on, who remembers H&M when it first opened? Now that was a jumble sale!

Check out their website. It's got loads of information on it about who's going to be there. Freize also have an art magazine, so if you can't go, maybe you could pick up one of those.

If art is your thing, try and get there and see how inspired you can be...

Day 125: Arts funding cuts

I read a newspaper today. Shocking I know! You know what it said? They (being the current government) want to cut funding for arts subjects at Unis across the country. Well where does that leave us and the millions of other creative people across the country who want to study creative subjects?

Why do people NOT understand that the arts are important? It's like these people don't like being happy or something. Do they not go to the cinema/theatre/galleries/concerts...? Where do they think it all comes from...space!

Sorry about the rant. I just love being a creative person and I'm not going to stop, even if they take all the money out of everything in the 'arts'. Are you with me?

Guys, I want you to know that it is great to be creative. I'm with you and if you love it, then do it. You have my word; even if creativity is cancelled, I will still write this blog for you. I will still provide creative inspiration to spark the creative appetites of ALL those who need and deserve it. I ain't going anywhere!

So be inspired to stay creative, keep on it and show them all the value in the arts!
