Day 343: McVitie's Hobnob Medley

Now this is what I call creative advertising. It makes me want to rush out in my dressing gown, slippers and wet hair to buy some right now!

I won't.

But the principle is there.

Day 190: Cats

I've been thinking about cats today. Partly because I miss my two cats back home, but also because of all the creative things that have been done with cats. I mean, how many animations have been made about cats? They've even got their own stage show named after them (which is brilliant by the way and mega creative!) And they're presented in so many adverts for cat food it's unreal.

Check this one out (sorry about the bit at the beginning, it was the best I could find):

How sexy is that cat!

How could you use cats in your creative work? (Not an actual cat, please. I am NOT supporting cruelty to animals!) Give a little time to cats today and see how they inspire your creative thinking...

Day 184 : Always Coca-Cola...

I always know it's nearly Christmas when I see this advert on T.V! You know what I mean...

But, what I want to know is, does it really make people buy coke at Christmas? It certainly makes me want to be at home with my family getting Santa's mince pie ready and putting out my stocking (oh, whatever, you totally still have one too!)

Did Coca-Cola really make Santa red? Rumour has it, they gave Santa his red 'image.' Does that make us want to drink Coca-cola at Christmas?

I have to say, the other day I really fancied a coke when I saw an advert for it at the train station. In fact, all this makes me want one right now!

It's worth a few thoughts though, right? How much power does advertising have over what we do, say, think even? Do you think advertising is creative or just bashed out?

Take some time (perhaps over a mince pie) to think about advertising...you never know what might come up!

Day 182: Be Disney's designer!

Take a look at these logos. The chances are, you will know what company most of them belong too, we see them so much. That's the power of advertising.

But what do these symbols really mean? Why did they chose those colours, patterns, arrangements?

The cool thing is, it's someones job to design them and they get to see their work all over the world. When I was 14, I entered a competition to design a logo for a local bowls club and I won (yay). It was really fun and as far as I know, they're still using it.

Big companies like the ones above are always looking for ways to re-style their brands to keep it fresh and new...My challenge for you today is to design you own logo. It could be for your own future company or for an existing one you think needs to get with the times.

You your creative fingers going and design your way to the top!

Day 144: Natural Gas Advertising

Check out this super cool video:

Doesn't it just make you feel warm and cosy? I don't know about you guys, but it make me want to get out the knitting needles right now. The coolest bit is the trainers. Can you imagine wearing knitted trainers. Comfort!

If you could knit anything, what would it be...? (this questions applies to all, not just knitters.)

Or, if you could make an advert out of anything, what would it be?

Don't you just love doing a bit of creative thinking...? It's everywhere!

Day 59: Photoshop wonders

I have found these amazing pictures on the web that were all made with the help of Photoshop. Now, I don't know much about Photoshop but just look at all the amazing things you can do with it. Photographers, get a load of this...

What would you do with the help of Photoshop? I hope these inspire you. Perhaps making pictures isn't your thing. Instead see what's around and be inspired to do your own thing with them. Could they inspire your stories, songs, plays, art, fashion...?

Whatever it is, make it creative!
